Subject: Fw: Coastguards Debate
I have received the attached from one of Dr. Sarah Wollaston’s staff. I
have already written to Dr. Wollaston thanking her for attending the
debate on the reorganisation of the Coastguard and the withdrawal of the
ETVs and we now await the Minister’s promised evidence on how effective
commercial ETVs have been in the SW Approaches in the last 2 years. If
anybody has any information on this subject, please let me have it as
soon as possible. I have none.
I did watch most of the debate and disquiet about the loss of the ETVs was
expressed by MPs from the West coast of Scotland and from Liverpool as
well as Dr. Wollaston. The subject is far from closed and I am extremely
grateful to our M.P. for her continued interest in it. Some backing from
other South West M.P.s would be helpful but the rules say that M.P.s can
only respond to their own constituents; would recipients of this please
consider contacting their own M.P.s and updating them?
Nigel, would you please circulate this to the SKECF members?
The following from the M.P.’s office.
